Go The Distance

Go The Distance

“Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.” Marie Curie

So our word for the day is PERSEVERENCE…

Dictionary Definition: steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, esp. in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.

You got it! Perseverance is simply refusing to quit. There are so many times in life when we feel that we are not good enough, are not suited for a situation, or maybe even as if “this just isn't for me". Those moments, however, become the defining moments of our lives. We are faced with the choice….persevere….or quit? Give up or give it all we have? It is in these defining moments where we realize that while the journey sometimes is hard, we have to keep trying. We have to keep fighting and we WILL NOT quit!

I can admit I have faced numerous defining moments in my life, and I expect more to come. But those are the times when I realize that if I really do want success badly enough, then I must keep the struggle alive and keep holding my head high.

Winston Churchill once said, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.”…..  And you thought that was a country music song by Rodney Atkins? Nope, it was taken from the famous Churchill line.

Check out these words from Randy Pausch, author of The Last Lecture; “The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”

Do you have a dream worth chasing? Do you desire to live a life that creates Better Days not only for yourself but also for others? If yes, then it is worth staying the course! It is worth staying with it no matter what comes your way!
